How to lead someone into trance

STEALTHILY INTO TRANCE

The My Friend John Induction is a powerful hypnotic induction. It is simple and flexible - ideal for the client who is very analytical or is suspicious of hypnotism and afraid of losing control.

It is often used if a standard technique is not working. It is particularly effective with teenagers, who often think they are too smart to be taken in by hypnosis, don't like authority and will resist direct inductions.

It is actually a self induction, the listener pretends to be a hypnotist by following everything the hypnotist says. But the process of repeating the hypnotic instructions puts the hypnotic ideas into the listener's mind and causes them to go into trance.

The Setup
   
  Maybe you are curious about hypnosis and maybe you wonder how it works and wondering how well it might work with you? I Mind reading
  It's natural to be curious about something like that and before you even think about being hypnotised I would like to explain to you how I put other people into trance. Is that OK? I Bind
  [get confirmation]    
  It's probably easiest if you imagine you were hypnotising someone else. So just listen to me describe how I would do it. You don' t have to anything except listen.    
 
The Induction
   
  Just imagine there is someone sitting in that chair beside you, or in another chair somewhere, or even lying down.... D Visualisation
  And what you do is... you tell them gently to relax... say to them.... Relax.... let your shoulders droop..... let your arms flop.... imagine how the arms could just lie heavy and relaxed.... as if they were made of lead.... D  
  And then them.... let your legs relax now... just allow you legs and feet to be so relaxed that they feel heavy and totally relaxed now.... D  
  In your mind... say to them.... focus on your breathing.... now... and with with each breath out... you can find yourself.... relaxing more and more.... and each gentle breath will take them deeper and deeper.... more and more relaxed.... D Breathing induction
  just focus on each breath... and allow each breath to make those arms and legs... more relaxed... and wonder how relaxed a person could get... >

  And in your mind imagine what it would feel for them to be so relaxed that they could hardly keep their eyes open... imagine them relaxing.... head sinking comfortably... imagine how their eyes could be so tired that every blink gets longer.... and the eyes stay shut longer.... and what it might like to close those eyes.... think what it would be like to feel your eyelids getting heavier and heavier and how nice it would be be to allow them to shut and relax too....   them: ambiguity
  and then imagine saying to the person.... focus on the little muscles around your eyes.... the tiny weak little muscles that control your eyelids... and what would it be like to pretend that those eyelids were so relaxed that they just won't work..... if those eyelids were so relaxed, so at ease that they just cannot open....   look for eyelid trembling
  And say... focus your awareness on those eyes.... and how it feels when those eyes just will not open.... when it feels as if they are locked tight shut... and just will not work....    
  Tell them to imagine going down.... and I don't know... you might like to think of a staircase... or a ramp.... or an elevator going down.... or something else... that you can say imagine going down and down.... and with each breath you go down further and deeper.... and count down silently with each breath.... from ten to one.... and as each number passes go deeper and deeper.... more at ease... more comfortable....   Staircase deepener

  And now.... allow the mind to focus on the hands... allow the mind to become aware of the left hand and the right hand... what they are feeling... where they are.... and allow the mind to choose one hand or the other hand and you might become curious as to which hand will be chosen.... and when the mind has chosen....   Depth test
  One finger or a thumb will lift on its own.... entirely without effort.... or it might be a hand or a wrist or something else... and that will a signal that you have done what you want....   Look for confirmation of trance
