STOP SMOKING SCRIPT

Stop Smoking Script: This style of Stop Smoking script use Direct Suggestion, or Authoritative Hypnosis, a style of therapy that sounds as if you are firing instructions at the listener. Each suggestion is a single direct command, telling the smoker how to behave, what to do, what to be. However, Direct Suggestion is actually quite subtle and very effective for stopping smoking.

This Stop Smoking Hypnosis Script is used after finding out why, when and where the client smokes. The therapist notes these and selects the matching section of the script. If weight gain is a worry then the section on not snacking is used, otherwise not.

Most smokers need convincing that they can stop, that there will be no cravings, that they can deal with stress without a cigarette. The script deals with all of those, and most other common issues.

Other psychological issues should be dealt with by weaving in one or more metaphor scripts such as Bridge to Freedom as required.

Behaviour If you ever get too close to smoking you will feel an irresistible compulsion to get up and leave... you will start walking away... find yourself somewhere safe... away from it.... and you mind will be filled with alarm bells .... You will take deep breaths until the danger is over and you are flooded with relief and calm again....

  You find that you don't think about smoking any more    
Rule You are becoming less and less attached to smoking with each word you are hearing... because smoking was what was causing your anxiety.... giving up smoking means giving up anxiety, nervousness   more>more
Identity and not smoking gives you the sense of calm you used to have.... D  
Capability Because you know you can handle stress.... you used to ... and other people can do it .... and so can you.... the cigarettes were causing it... and not they are gone... you can forget about the stress they caused...

  YOU DON'T NEED TO SMOKE TO SOCIALISE    
Identity Smoking is not something you enjoy.... You never enjoyed smoking.... what you enjoyed was the company... the people around you.. the feeling of belonging... being accepted..... D Reframing

Rule Because that's all cigarettes are... an excuse... an excuse to mix with other smokers.... to share something.... to fit in....   Reframing

Behaviour From now on... when you are in a bar... or drinking... or sharing with other people.... you feel part of the group... you know you fit in... you know it's OK to be there with them... and you don't need a cigarette as a prop... you don't need to pretend to need a cigarette...    
Identity You don't enjoy cigarettes.... you never really enjoyed them...    
Behaviour Cigarette make you ill and you reject them now.    
  YOU DON'T NEED TO SMOKE TO TAKE A BREAK    
Identity You can enjoy a drink without smoking... you can enjoy a meal without smoking... you can enjoy spending time with friends without smoking.... In all those situations... you no longer smoke.    
Identity Take a moment now and think through your day... all the times when you take a break and used to smoke... and now imagine how it will look, how it will feel... how it will be to enjoy those breaks without a cigarette... take that feeling of enjoyment you get and multiply it.... because you are a non smoker now... and you will enjoy those breaks even more.... and get more from them... imagine each one in bright colours.... and maybe there's a piece of music you associate with triumph and success... maybe you can play that music while you think about how it will be at breaktime and you don't smoke....    
Behaviour and at work.... you can take a break... go for a walk... enjoy that few minutes away from the task... and you enjoy it more... now you know that break is healthy and refreshing.... because now you don't smoke...    
  CHANGE THE PART THAT SMOKES    
Identity There is a part of you that wanted to smoke... a familiar part... You may not know that part but it is there... and it is ready to change.... now.... at a deep level you know it is time to change.... to let go.... that part had a good reason to smoke... but things have changed now....    
Capability Tell that part that it is now to change... thank that part for what it was trying to do... but it is time to change now... every part of you is valuable.... so you can convert that part to do something else.... that part of you that used to want to smoke is now being converted to a useful healthy purpose...    
Identity And that part of you will be glad... and it is changing now because you asked it to... and you can be surprised at how effective it can be.... and how you are different now...   ambiguity

 

 

 
EMPHASISE HEALTH
   
Rule Smoking is always a mistake. Smoking makes y0u ill. Every puff is a danger.    
Rule You are not really giving up anything.... What you are giving up is coughing, breathless, tired, and what you are getting now is health and vitality and vigour...   Reframing

Memory hair that smells of soap the way it used to... remember when you were first dating and how good that smell was... and you want all those things, don't you? Because you have given up smoking now you are getting all those things... and that's good isn't it?
