How to get a better life

It's said that we all know how to drive better than we do drive, and we all know how to plan better than we do plan. What happens is that in driving we reach a level of competence that is good enough, and we stop there. We accept a skill level and a set of behaviours that are sufficient to stop us getting arrested or crashing the car. This is known as satisficing - doing just enough to get by.
But many of us live our lives that way too.... doing just enough to get by.... when in fact we already know how to have a better life than the one we are living.

People get trapped into accepting second best for themselves. Often the process is so gradual that it is only when someone or something jolts them out of their comfort zone that they become aware that there is even a problem.

There are many easy to learn techniques that can remind us of how to go beyond satisficing, how to get the quality of life we have forgotten we wanted.

Challenging yourself is the way to kick start a stalled life.

People often say that their lives would be OK if only they had more time or more money or more something. If fact when people win large sums of money on the lottery they usually don't know what to do with it. They buy a new car and then a big house and then they run out of ideas. Most winners give the money away. They just were not prepared for success. There are several question you can ask yourself that will let you know if you are ready to start winning. Affirmations

The simplest way to change your mental attitudes is by changing your beliefs. You do this with affirmations. An affirmation is a specific, positive statement saying that something you want is already so. For example "I am outgoing and people like me" is an affirmation. The affirmation should bring to mind the certainty that what you want is already happening. If you say it often enough, and combine the words with vivid images and positive emotions, then your mind will accept it as true. The first step to success is knowing what you want. Setting goals is the most powerful and long lasting form of self programming. The effect of setting a goal is almost magical. Visualisation allows you to imagine exactly what you want your future to be, and is the first step to getting exactly what you want. Submodalities

Simple visualisation allows you to create your own future. But you can also use visualisation to take control of your past. Submodalities is a method of using the mind's own procedures to influence how you perceive and react to the events in your own life. As Bandler says "It's never too late to have a good childhood". You don't have to allow past events to control how you feel and behave today.
